3. Hazards identification

Harmful to aquatic organisms, may cause short term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.

4. First aid measures

After swallowing: Make victim drink water, obtain medical advice.
After eye contact: Rinse out with copious amount of water for 10 minutes with eyelid held open.
After inhalation: Move victim to fresh air.

5. Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water, CO2, foam, powder.
Special risks: Product is combustible and after extinguishing is prone to smoulder if not covered with an inert material such as silica sand

.Prevent fire-fighting water from entering surface water or ground water.

6. Accidental release measures

  • Take up dry if spilled. Clean up affected area by sweeping clean and bagging material.
  • Environmental-protection measures: Do not allow material to enter storm water drains or sewerage system.

7. Handling and storage

Keep material dry until used. It will absorb atmospheric moisture.

8. Exposure control/personal protection

When handling large quantities of material take precautions to avoid engulfment of workers.

11. Toxicological information

Environmental effects: Under acid rain conditions at pH 5,0 a leaching of Manganese and Zinc will occur in low concentration. This could affect aquatic and bird life if released to surface or ground water.

12. Disposal considerations

It is advisable to dispose of the material after use in accordance with the severity of the secondary product being absorbed. A double membrane lined sanitary landfill site is recommended for most applications.
