| Eco Marine Oil Spill Dispersant |
 Eco-marine is a hydrocarbon solvent based oil spill dispersant suitable for the treatment of marine oil spills . Eco-marine is a DEAT (Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism) approved oil spill dispersant and is classified as a type 1 oil spill dispersant. The product emulsifies crude oil and other light hydrocarbon oils and therefore facilitates and excels the microbial breakdown of the hydrocarbon content of the oil. This is done by spreading out the oil as a thin film on the water surface and with the aid of wave action blend the oil with water to a depth of approximately 1 meter. The product can also be used as a medium to heavy duty degreaser in workshops. It does not contain volatile components and is therefore safe to use in enclosed areas. The product is primary biodegradable and it also complies with the SABS 1216 specification. ________________________________________________________________________ AREAS OF APPLICATION-MARINE OIL SPILLS The product should be used according to the DEAT policy for the use of oil spill dispersants. That is: 1) Use on waters more than 5 nautical miles offshore 2) The water must be more than 30 meters deep 3) Use must be approved by a DEAT Pollution Officer Please refer to DEAT policy on the use of oil spill dispersants-Fax 021 530 3127 AREAS OF APPLICATION-AS A DEGREASER The product is applied particularly in areas of environmental concern or conditions where it may come into direct contact with the environment that is natural water streams, vegetation and soil. The product is suitable for cleaning hard surfaces and will remove most type of lubricating grease. Eco-marine can be used in the following areas. 1) Workshops and mobile units 2) Hydrocarbon spills on soil 3) Hand/manual application cleaning 4) Areas with a high fire risk ________________________________________________________________________ METHOD OF APPLICATION-OIL SPILLS 1) Apply by means of 90° slotted fan spray with pressure not exceeding 3 bar 2) Nozzle should be kept minimum 2 meters from the water surface 3) Apply 1 litre dispersant per 7.1m² to achieve SANS 1025-1975 efficiency 4) Apply 1 litre dispersant per 60m² to achieve MATD METHOD OF APPLICATION-DEGREASER Eco-marine can be applied by means of a brush, cloth or air can. When the later is used it should be done in a well ventilated area. Application on floors is done by means of a fine spray from high pressure equipment.
